Ritmo Privacy Policy

Last Updated: December 5, 2024

Platano Labs LLC ("Platano Labs," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Platano Labs collects, uses, and safeguards your information when you use the Ritmo mobile application.

1. Information Platano Labs Collects

Information You Provide

Ritmo is designed as a local-first application. All personal data you enter—including your goals, check-ins, notes, and preferences—is stored locally on your device. Platano Labs does not have access to this information, and it is never transmitted to our servers.

Automatically Collected Information

Platano Labs may collect limited technical information to improve the app experience:

  • Crash Reports: If the app crashes, anonymous diagnostic data may be sent to our crash reporting service (Sentry) to help us identify and fix issues. This data does not include your personal content.
  • Device Information: Basic device information such as device type, operating system version, and app version may be collected for diagnostic purposes.

2. Third-Party Services

Advertising and Tracking

Ritmo displays advertisements through Google AdMob. When you first use the app, you will be asked whether you consent to tracking for personalized advertising through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt.

  • If you allow tracking: Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) may be used by Google AdMob to deliver personalized advertisements based on your interests and activity across other apps and websites.
  • If you do not allow tracking: You will only see non-personalized (contextual) advertisements. No tracking identifier will be shared with advertisers.

You can change your tracking preference at any time in your device's Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking.

For users in regions requiring consent (such as the EU under GDPR), you may also see a consent form from Google asking for your advertising preferences. For more information about how Google handles your data, visit Google's Privacy Policy.

iCloud Backup

Your app data is automatically backed up to your personal iCloud account. This data is encrypted and managed according to Apple's privacy practices. Platano Labs does not have access to your iCloud data. You can manage or delete this data through your iCloud settings on your device.

In-App Purchases

Purchases made within the app are processed by Apple. Platano Labs does not collect or store your payment information. For details on how Apple handles your data, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Analytics and Crash Reporting

Platano Labs uses Sentry for crash reporting and error tracking. Sentry collects anonymous technical data to help improve app stability. This may include device type, OS version, and crash logs. No personal content or habit data is ever included. If you choose to submit feedback, you may optionally attach screenshots from your photo library. For more information, visit Sentry's Privacy Policy.

3. How Platano Labs Uses Your Information

The limited information collected is used solely to:

  • Diagnose and fix app crashes and bugs
  • Improve app performance and user experience
  • Display advertisements (personalized or non-personalized based on your consent)

4. Data Storage and Security

Your personal habit data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable iCloud backup. Platano Labs employs industry-standard security practices to protect any diagnostic data received. Since your content is stored locally, you maintain full control over your data at all times.

5. Data Retention

Crash reports and diagnostic data are retained for up to 90 days to allow for debugging and analysis. After this period, the data is automatically deleted. Your local app data is retained on your device until you delete the app or clear its data.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access and Control: All your habit data is stored locally on your device. You can view, edit, or delete it at any time within the app.
  • Data Deletion: Uninstalling the app will remove all locally stored data. Your iCloud backup data can be managed through your device's iCloud settings.
  • Notifications: You can manage notification preferences within the app or through your device settings.
  • Advertising Preferences: You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time by going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your iOS device and disabling tracking for Ritmo.

7. Children's Privacy

Ritmo is not directed at children under 13 years of age. Platano Labs does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe Platano Labs has inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so it can be promptly removed.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Platano Labs may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. You are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

10. California Privacy Rights

Since Ritmo stores your data locally and does not sell personal information, most CCPA provisions do not apply. However, you retain full control over your data and can delete it at any time by removing the app. You may also opt out of personalized advertising as described in Section 6.

11. International Users

Ritmo is available internationally. If you access the app from outside the United States, please be aware that any diagnostic information collected may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using the app, you consent to this transfer.
